"You guys like a bake sale, right? I mean we need money for the dance recital and you know I do an empowering lemon bundt!" Buffy, Season 4
I have a favourite recipe for an empowering lemon bundt cake that comes from the Milk calendar. I don't remember what year but, it was by Anne Lindsay and it was amazing. My copy was nowhere to be found so I looked online for something similar. I found a lot of recipes that called for packaged lemon cake and/or pudding mix and even one with lemon-lime soda. Needless to say, this is not what I was looking for.
I went to the trusted Canadian Living website and found a lovely recipe for Glazed Lemon Cake. It called for milk, real lemons and good old-fashioned ingredients like eggs, butter and flour. I set to work and about an hour later I had a wonderful lemon cake ready to share. The crumb is tender, moist and almost melts in your mouth. The lemon flavour is refreshing but not overpowering and the glaze adds an extra lemon punch. So, if you're a citrus lover, this cake is for you!

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm! I'm partial to these kind of light, basic cakes and I'm a sucker for anything citrus. I think this is because it makes such a fresh accompaniment to good, strong coffee! Thanks for the great recipe.
Thanks Kristina! I could go for a strong coffee right about now. :)
Nice Bundt! I should try it sometime. I'm like Kristina I'm also a sucker for anything citrus. I like the buffy quote btw...
Sam - Thanks...it really is a great recipe. :) I'm glad you liked the quote.
I can't taste it but I know it's delicious - I love lemon cake! And the Buffy quote just makes me miss home your baking even more!
Wish you were here RedCat!! Buffy isn't the same without you. :)
I love lemon desserts, especially in the spring. You might be able to find that lemon cake recipe at dairygoodnes.ca. Good luck.
Oooops, that's dairygoodness.ca Sorry 'bout that.
No problem Renne...thanks for the tip. :)
What a beautiful Lemon Bundt Cake! How I love lemon desserts, particularly when paired with a hot cup of Earl Grey tea. I can't, for the life of me, imagine making one with lemon-lime soda ... no, I'm with you on the use of old-fashioned ingredients and real lemons. Good luck finding the Milk Calendar recipe, and when you do, I hope you post it!
I think I found your recipe. I've held on to the old Milk Calendar's since the early 90's and have come across a recipe by Ann Lindsay from the 2001 Calendar for a Lemon Cake with Sliced Peaches. Let me know if it's the one your looking for....
Tania - Thank you! What is lemon cake without real lemons? Sprite or Mountain Dew would completely change the flavour! Have a great weekend!
Renne - That's it!! If you could e-mail it to me I would really appreciate it. Thanks so much!
I'm going to try the bundt cake--I'm a big lemon fan, and so are my daughters who are coming to visit this weekend.
Buffy quote: love it.
